While the game has been well received after the first look at the gameplay surfaced, the developer has been criticized for its contract with content creators that asked them to sign away several rights, including making “disparaging remarks.” A fake list of those remarks has now surfaced, and it seems like Marvel Rivals has new names.

After the closed Alpha test began, the developer sent out a contract to content creators who had asked for key codes to get to play the game, and the contract asked the creators to refrain from “making any public statements or engaging in discussions that are detrimental to the reputation of the game.”

This includes making comments on the game’s features, music, characters, or any game-related material whatsoever. However, this did not go well, as players protested against it. A fake list of the “disparaging remarks” has now surfaced on the internet, and it has terms that could see the Overwatch 2 competitor game referred to going forward.

The list includes terms like “Bootleg Overwatch,” “Phauxverwatch,” “Mid af,” and others that are worse than the ones mentioned before, such as “Even Paladins is better than this trash,” “Minecraft China,” and “Ain’t this the studio that made Diablo Immortal,” among others. Although the list is fake, several gamers have said that they wouldn’t mind if it were real.

Developer NetEase has now clarified its stance on the contract with a statement and apologized for the “unpleasant experiences or doubts caused by the miscommunication of these terms” on the official Discord server of the game. It has also added that it will be “less restrictive and more Creator-friendly” with the terms going forward.

However, as soon as the terms for Marvel Rivals surfaced, players said that it was “hilarious,” and whoever came up with this deserves credit. One user said, “Phauxverwatch is the best name,” while another added, “Phauxverwatch is too good.”

Several gamers added that it was useful to know that the studio developing Marvel Rivals was behind Diablo Immortal, especially because of “how predatory the microtransactions were in that game.” One user said that the “disparaging remark” mentioning Diablo Immortal is disparaging the developer itself.

Despite the list being fake, the gamers are enjoying the new terms for Marvel Rivals and have said that it is likely that the game will be streamed using these terms only. What are your thoughts about the new names for the game? Let us know in the comments below!
