Fallout London is a massive total conversion mod for Fallout 4, which Team FOLON has been working on since 2019. While gamers have now been waiting around four years for the mod’s release, the developers behind the project have indicated the wait is almost over.

As per a recent post on Twitter/X, Fallout London is now expected to arrive on April 23, 2024. Gamers who are excited to get their hands on this latest mod should know that as of this writing, it is only planned to be accessible for PC users. However, while a console version may never happen, Team FOLON’s website mentions that it may offer “specific standalone items” for other platforms in the future.

The Release Announcement and Why the Fallout London Mod Is Getting Another Slight Delay

Team FOLON has never been one to back away from sharing progress with gamers, and its latest Fallout London announcement is no different. The developers have not only confirmed the release date, but also issued an official statement with a companion video.

The statement discusses how the team has fallen behind when it comes to game testing of the highly anticipated mod. This is primarily due to the fact that several of the developers on the scripting team “come from a region affected by conflict.” While the mod was initially expected to be completed by Q3 of 2023, it is understandable as to why Fallout London has experienced some development challenges.

Although this statement was likely very difficult to make, there is an understanding in the response that a delay is intended to protect the quality of the project.

Given this additional time, Team FOLON will undergo more game testing in order to “avoid any release issues, such as those that have plagued other community or industry projects lately.” This is a reasonable decision, especially when game developers are becoming more and more reliant on post-release patch work. Team FOLON will avoid such error by taking the additional time to perfect Fallout London.

As the new release date is now set for St. George’s Day, April 23, 2024, the arrival of Fallout London will coincide more directly with the Fallout TV series. The Amazon Prime Video series has a planned release of April 12, 2024 and several qualified executive producers are attached including: Todd Howard, Lisa Joy, Jonathan Nolan, and more.

As Bethesda prepares a Fallout 4 next-gen update in the future, Team FOLON has also recognized that while it cannot predict the impact, its developers are committed to making the mod fully available.

If you are unfamiliar with the Fallout London mod, or simply need a refresher on the subject, there is quite a lot of information to be excited about. The huge mod, which has been described as DLC in terms of size, will take place in 2237, between the first and second Fallout games.

This has been an interested surprise to many, given the fact that the mod is designed to work with Fallout 4. Nevertheless, the graphical fidelity of the latest Fallout game is certainly going to be appreciated by those who love the franchise.

Although there is not a lot of information about the narrative at this point, given the fact that the game takes place outside of the United States, circumstances will be very different. There will be completely new factions, and it is unlikely for players to see the older organizations to which they are familiar.

The Team FOLON website explains that there will be: “no super Mutants, no Centaurs, no Deathclaws, and likely a lower number of Psykers than ever before.” Since Vault-Tec is based in America, it will also not be present in London.

It seems the Fallout London mod is quite ambitious, while also making sure to adhere to the set rules of the Fallout universe. Although gamers are going to have to wait a little longer to finally experience post-apocalyptic England and the changes that have been made, it certainly seems to be worth the wait.
