Teen Shot Man Over An Argument Over Seats During a Screening of No Hard Feelings

On Sunday, Michael Tenorio and his wife went to the movie theater in Albuquerque called Century Rio Theater to watch Jennifer Lawrence’s No Hard Feelings. Here, they assign specific seats, and Tenorio bought seat numbers 8 and 11 as seats together were unavailable. On the advice of a theater employee, the two decided to sit together and ask the people who had bought seat numbers 9 and 10 to move a spot. Nineteen-year-old Enrique Padilla, who had bought the seats for him and his date was not all too happy about it and an argument ensued. The date reportedly approached an employee to help with the situation and the couple ultimately ended up sitting together.

Padilla was not satisfied with this conclusion and as the movie started, he threw an entire tub of popcorn on Tenorio’s face. This, naturally, infuriated Tenorio who got up and pushed Padilla against a wall. It was around this time that shots were fired and Padilla fled the scene. Witnesses have stated to have heard around four to six shots being fired. CPR was performed on Tenorio but he was ultimately announced dead on the scene.

“There was a sense of chaos here,” reported a source. “A lot of people were running from the theaters and trying to get out of the way.”

Padilla was found in the bushes outside the theater by police with a gunshot wound in his abdomen. A firearm was found near Padilla with a bullet casing found in the bushes near it which reportedly matched another one found inside the theater. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was charged with the murder of Michael Tenorio, shooting at a dwelling or occupied building, and tampering with evidence. The Police have refused to comment on the motives as well as the situation as a whole.
