There are multiple rumors and speculations regarding who will direct Avengers: Secret Wars. Many names have been rumored including Ryan Coogler, Sam Raimi, and now Alfonso Cuarón. But from the moment it was announced, fans have been campaigning for one director duo to direct the film, the Russo Brothers. The duo delivered two of the best films in the entire MCU, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, so obviously fans want them to come back to deliver the glory and epic nature needed for an Avengers film.

It remains to be seen whether Marvel officially hires the Russo Brothers back for the epic flick or they go with a whole new director that no one expected.
The Russo Brothers are Unlikely, Since They Are Busy with Their Own Projects
The Russo Brothers have been busy making projects for their production house AGBO since their departure from the MCU. They have produced and directed multiple projects under the company including The Gray Man, the two Extraction films, Citadel, and the recent Oscar winner Everything Everywhere All At Once. They are creating an interconnected universe like the MCU with future Citadel projects in different countries and are also directing the upcoming sci-fi adventure flick The Electric State starring Millie Bobby Brown.
They have a lot going on with their studio productions that are in different stages of development. Hence, they might not have ample time to commit to a big and ambitious flick like Avengers: Secret Wars. But they have expressed their desire to helm the project before. It seems fans have to wait for an official announcement from Marvel regarding the matter.
