As James Gunn sets up to take DC Films into a new direction along with his co-CEO Peter Safran, the old DCEU has to be sacrificed in order for something new to emerge. With the release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and the upcoming The Flash are all set to become the remnants of the old DCEU regime, it’ll be an interesting wait till we see the new management get the new DCU rolling.

But as the new era of DC Films is on the horizon, the sun has already set for some of the stars from the prior cinematic universe. The decision of the management to fire Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and allegedly Gal Gadot was a major blow to the fandom in general and something that became quite a heated backlash. But as the fans witness Zachary Levi in the new film, they feel like it’s time for another replacement.

After a relatively impressive performance at the box office with the original Shazam! the audience was excited to look forward to the next installment in the franchise. But before that could even happen, the management shifted and James Gunn started dismantling the DCEU, removing major players from the cinematic universe like firing Henry Cavill as Superman for a younger version of the superhero in the future, along with Ben Affleck as Batman.

The mind of James Gunn is something that can churn out masterpieces with relative effort, and his director and comic book fanboy chops definitely make him one of the best people to take the charge of rebuilding the new DCU from the ground up. Already ready with a plan for the new universe titled ‘Gods and Monsters’ which will be the first chapter in the wider narrative, the Guardians of The Galaxy director would have to make an impression on the audience and the fandom if he wants to succeed.
