Since the ending of Game of Thrones, Kit Harington‘s Jon Snow was announced to receive a spinoff show that will explore the aftermath of the events of season 8. But there has been no news regarding the project ever since. Recently the CEO of HBO Casey Bloys gave an update regarding Westeros-related projects and it provided some disappointing news. He told TV Line,

“We always have Game of Thrones scripts in development. We greenlit Dunk and Egg in the spring. I wouldn’t say there is anything else in that world that is close to a green light or anything, but we are always working on different scripts and ideas.

So we’ve been trying to be thoughtful about what are the stories that are worth telling. What would be exciting? What would fans love? Dunk and Egg is one of those, but not the only one”

This disappointed some fans who expressed their anger and frustrations on X,

It remains to be seen whether this potential project ever sees the light of day in the foreseeable future. Fans surely are interested to see Jon Snow’s journey continue from where it was left off in season 8. It is all up to the heads at HBO to make it happen as soon as possible.

Season 8 of Game of Thrones was a largely provocative and controversial one as it involved action and events that many people did not like or were shocked by. Jon Snow’s arc proved to eb a more tragic one as he had to kill Daenerys Targaryen and was then banished to the Wall in the North.

Kit Harington explained the headspace his character was in the ending moments of the show. He also told how the character is grief-stricken and filled with trauma after all the loss he has suffered in his life. He said, (via Entertainment Weekly)

“I think if you asked him, he would’ve felt he got off lightly. At the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be. He’s done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse. He’s gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany.

Live out his life thinking about Ygritte [played by Rose Leslie] dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly [Brenock O’Connor], and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that. So I think where we leave him at the end of the show, there’s always this feeling of like… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are okay. He’s not okay.”

It will be interesting to see where the character goes from this dark place in the announced spin-off show. The character remains the undisputed tragic hero of the entire series and fans are desperate for him to get justice and find happiness.
