Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald film hits theaters next month and opening predictions are putting it on par with the first Fantastic Beasts film. Variety reports that the film is projected to open between $65 million and $75 million.
The first Fantastic Beasts opened to $74 million and went on to gross $814 million worldwide. In comparison to the Harry Potter films, Deathly Hallows Part 2 holds the highest opening weekend with $169 million, while the fifth instalment, Order of Phoenix, earned the least with $77 million.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans of raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided world.
