Far Cry fans, Far Cry 7 may be on its way. You’ve already been to the Rook Islands, Kyrat, Hope County (twice), Yara, Oros, and other scenarios from this long series of FPS games, but many are already preparing for which land they will set foot in the next adventure.
New details are slowly arriving about the seventh game, although there were more derivative titles, and excited gamers can start loading their weapons to unload on enemies in whatever this new setting of the franchise will be.
News About the Upcoming Far Cry 7 Has Been Released
A new report from Insider Gaming revealed new details that begin to stir the pot of Far Cry 7, which we will comment on here. Firstly, the development would be carried out by Ubisoft Montreal using the Dunia engine for Snowdrop. We call it Far Cry 7 out of familiarity, but the project is known internally as Project Blackbird and is scheduled for release in Fall 2025, at least for now, since we don’t know if the fair actors’ strike will reach the games industry and if it will end soon like it happened with the screenwriters, who recently got their rights.
Previous to this, a leak suggested that Far Cry 7 would be named Far Cry: Rise and would take place on a fictional tropical island called Kimsan, found in the Yellow Sea near Korea, however this piece of news was reported to be 100% inaccurate and we can abandon of the discussion of leaving it to the imagination.
According to sources, Far Cry‘s next adventure is expected to be a non-linear story that revolves around rescuing the player character’s wealthy family who have been kidnapped by a conspiratorial group called the Sons of Truth. The details stop here and don’t go into much depth, they would even be subject to change as development is still in its infancy but the whole concept consists of saving your family within a specific time frame.
It was said that it would be necessary to save the hostages before a stipulated time, which is always a tension booster for games of this style and the timer would be 72 hours (24 hours in real-time) but could be paused when the protagonist enters into their hiding places on the map. Being non-linear, the story of Far Cry 7 would make it possible to rescue family members in a random order while others can be killed. The development must be laborious but can have good results if done well and make this rescue mission a highlight of the beloved series.
In addition to the scenarios, the villains are always a big part of Far Cry titles, and in this case, the rivals would be the Children of Truth, who would need to be obliterated to complete the entire game. To find your family members, Far Cry 7 may introduce a new interrogation mechanic into the game, in which the enemy may or may not deliver necessary information, but also give false clues, remain silent, or even escape.
Ubisoft has not been consistent with its project announcements, only recently announcing The Division 3 basically out of nowhere in a public relations email, and still not mentioning anything about open projects like Beyond Good & Evil 2 for example. So we can’t know when we will hear again about Far Cry 7 and whether these details will remain until the eventual release, we can only wait and hope.
