Tyrese Gibson deemed Dwayne Johnson as egoistic for making Fast and furious about himself

As the Fast and Furious franchise is inching toward its next installment, the family aspect in the movies has grown quite ubiquitous with its theme over the last two decades. And when Dwayne Johnson decided to leave the franchise due to his beef with Vin Diesel, his co-star Tyrese Gibson wasn’t too relished by the Black Adam star’s decision.

Tyrese Gibson later went out to criticize The Rock for breaking the Fast and Furious family and went on to star in its spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, which resulted in the delay of F9. The Roman Pearce actor also didn’t hold back from deeming The Rock as a self-centered, egoistic celebrity, who just wanted to make the whole Fast Saga about himself.

The actor shared that even though he wasn’t sure if things could ever go back to normal, it eventually worked out after the duo reconnected through phone calls, leaving their past behind. He stated,

“We’ve been on the phone every other day. We reconnected in a real way. I think we’re both better men on the other side of all that stuff that went down. To be honest, I didn’t know how the phone call would happen. But it did happen and we’re about 20 phone calls in. We compete right now on who can leave the longest voice note.”
