Notorious wrestler and WWE veteran John Cena recently admitted that he did not wish to join the world of wrestling originally. Although being known worldwide as the man who just cannot be seen, the wrestler-turned-actor called his career move a “mistake”.

The Peacemaker actor stated that wrestling was never his first choice as a career. Although he is an actor now, John Cena’s first choice was to always join the Marine Corps and be a Marine. The actor revealed that on the road to becoming a Marine, he got addicted to wrestling and the rest is history.

John Cena Never Wanted To Be A Wrestler

It does seem incredible that there would have been a time John Cena wouldn’t have been known to the world as a wrestler. With championship titles and his iconic “you-can’t-see-me” style, Cena has been branded as one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time in the history of WWE.

All that wouldn’t have been possible since John Cena was never that much interested in wrestling in the first place. The actor’s destiny and plan was to originally join the Marine Corps and be a Marine. Due to the high training that Marines go through, the actor turned to wrestle to up his fitness levels and to improve his physique thinking that it would help him in the long run as a Marine.

What was supposed to be a simple hobby turned out into an outright addiction as John Cena himself stated that he was “hooked” as soon as he saw the ring. In an interview, here’s what the F9 actor had to say about his career choices that led him to become a wrestler-turned-actor.

“Originally I started to wrestle by mistake. I was going to join the Marine Corps. And a friend of mine was like, we are training down in Orange County. You should give it a weekend before you go down there. I was like, yeah, whatever I will do it, saw a ring and I was hooked.”

Since he wasn’t passionate about wrestling during his debut, the actor had often found himself on the wrong side of situations. He eventually got better and later went on to become one of the most iconic wrestlers in WWE history.

Alongside his wrestling career, John Cena also tried his hand in the Hollywood industry. During his starting years, Cena admitted that it was indeed rough for him since he was getting rejected from several notable roles until he made it successful in Hollywood.

“I can’t tell you how many superhero roles I’ve been rejected for. Shazam is certainly one. There was a brief try at the Deadpool universe, rejection. Shazam was Dikembe Mutumbo. There was a few in the Marvel universe, rejected. But you know, I kept trying.”

As per the info, The Suicide Squad actor was supposed to portray the role of Cable which was later passed on to Josh Brolin. John Cena finally found his family when he starred in as the brother to Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious franchise.
