While superstardom for Brie Larson is now her daily life, it was something quite foreign to her during her initial years. She even had little hope about getting such fame because she was facing constant rejections from Hollywood.

In an interview with Thrillist while promoting her film, Room, she reflected on the failures she faced in her life.

She shared at the time,

“The one I’ve been thinking about a lot is… I don’t even want to know how many times I’ve auditioned for things.”

She continued to give an estimation of the auditions that she went for and even talked about not getting booked for many jobs.

“Like, I’m sure it’s close to tens of thousands of auditions since I was seven until now. And if you look at my IMDb, I didn’t get ten thousand jobs.”

The Fast X star talked about getting hurt by several times which would be disheartening especially when she faced constant failures. What broke her heart was the objectification Hollywood gave her for not getting booked for gigs.

“So imagine all of those no’s and how many times that really hurt, being told that I was too tall or I was too short or I didn’t have blue eyes. All of these things that accumulated in me as a huge sense of pain and rejection, just constant, constant, constant everyday rejection.”

Despite the odds stacked against her, she continued to give her best and eventually made a name for herself in the industry.

She even tried her luck to land a role in major projects like AvatarPitch Perfect, Star Wars, and Marvel films, including Iron Man 2 and Thor.
