Although Mark Wahlberg is commonly known for his acting skills and quintessential Hollywood success, the actor once had a terrific past. Appearing with a troubled childhood and rough upbringing, Mark Wahlberg dropped from school at 14. Developing an addiction to cocaine and other substances as a coping mechanism, Wahlberg faced a lawsuit at the age of 16. Stumbling upon his past, the actor recalled, “My older brothers taught me how to get high when I was 10, and gave me a couple beers.”

Filled against violation of civil rights, Wahlberg was further accused of harassment. Following his misdemeanor, the actor later robbed a pharmacy and liquor store to engage in substance abuse. While escaping law enforcement, Mark Wahlberg assaulted a middle-aged Vietnamese man and was charged with attempted murder. Sentenced to two years in jail as a teenager, the actor faced extreme setbacks.

However, his life was meant to get back on the right track as Fr James Flavin appeared in his life as a savior. Rescuing him from further drug abuse and violence, the parish priest took him under his wing. Showing him the right path, and enlightening him with faith, Father Flavin changed the actor’s life forever. “I never would have been able to change my life and have the success and love that I have in my world today without my faith” Wahlberg shared.
