Jack Black was honored as the ‘Comedic Genius’ at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Best known for his roles in films like The Holiday, Envy, and School of Rock, he is an actor, comedian, musician, and songwriter. He has also voiced the famous character of DreamWorks Animations, Kung-Fu Panda’s Po. He even did a tribute to Po by wearing the Panda Suit onstage. He even treated his acceptance speech as one of the comedic gigs he does. Despite how funny it was, the speech was also emotional and the ‘Comedic Genius’ was on the verge of tears while thanking his family.
Jack Black somersaulted to the stage to receive the award
At the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards, the comedic actor won the Comedic Genius Award. Awkwafina presented the award to the star at the Barker Hangar in Saint Monica, California. To make the reception of the award just as iconic as he is. He did somersaults on his way to the stage. That too wearing a panda suit. Maybe he went too much into character.
As he told the ET reporter later, he could “feel the flames licking my butt,” Jack Black a forward roll before getting up and dancing over to the stage. He also high-fived some of the audience while making his way to receive the award. Then once he was in front of the stage, he did another somersault. While accepting his award he even joked that he needed a “little blast of oxygen.”
The ‘Comedic Genius’ gets emotional while accepting the award
Once received the award after the iconic entrance, the actor got emotional while delivering his speech. He said, “Comedic Genius? Come on, are you kidding? For what?!” He also mentioned some of his most popular roles and cute TikTok dances and went on to say that he did not deserve the honor but he’ll take it. He thanked MTV for it.
He further went on to thank, “the School of Rockers out there, and for all the Tenacious D-isciples. And most of all, my amazing wife, Tanya, and our two incredible boys — I love you, I love you, I love you.” Upon mentioning his family he got emotional onstage.
He is the fifth person to receive the award. The award honors actors who have done a significant job in playing comic roles.
