Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are finally calling it quits after months of rumors of a rocky relationship. Lopez filed for divorce in the LA County Superior Court on the same day she and Affleck tied the knot two years ago. According to the filings, the Let’s Get Loud singer listed their date of separation as April 26.
The couple started living separately a few months ago when Affleck moved out of their shared mansion in Beverly Hills. Affleck spent a couple of months in a rental property in Brentwood before purchasing a simpler $20 million bachelor pad for himself.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck gave a second chance to their romance and got married on August 20, 2022, after going separate ways in the early 2000s. However, this didn’t last much longer as Lopez has now filed for divorce on the same date as her marriage two years later (via Variety).
According to reports from PEOPLE, Ben Affleck was allegedly not interested in fixing the relationship. A source shared that Lopez “was done waiting”, while another shared that the On the Floor singer was ready to “move on” from the relationship. One source shared:

Affleck and Lopez started living separately after Affleck moved out of their shared mansion, which they bought in June 2023 (via PEOPLE). Earlier, Heat magazine reported that Lopez was furious when she got back from vacation and found out that Affleck had left without consulting her. Affleck later purchased a $20 million mansion in Pacific Palisades, California (via Page Six).
The Deep Water actor was previously married to Jennifer Garner for a decade and had three children together. It is Lopez’s fourth divorce after the actress was first married to Ojani Noa and then to Cris Judd before meeting Affleck. After their breakup, she went on to have a long marriage with Marc Anthony, with whom she had twins.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have no prenup in the picture, which means their financial information will undergo scrutiny in court. According to documents obtained by BBC, both Lopez and Affleck must share details including their current income, expenses, properties, and debts.
Affleck and Lopez are also mandatorily required to divulge changes in their finances “until there is a final agreement about all financial issues in your case”. BBC also reported that Lopez was given 60 days to disclose her financial information, while Affleck will get another 60 days after Lopez filed her financial information.
The court could also impose a sanction if either of the parties fails to divulge any information. Lopez will also have to make sure that this failed marriage doesn’t drag her career down. Affleck will also probably put himself deep into work.
It won’t help things that Lopez has signed on to star in two movies produced by Affleck and Matt Damon.
