Do you still recall the little wizard boy in the Harry Potter series who became everyone’s favorite? Well, as it seems, not all the viewers were mesmerized by Daniel Radcliffe’s acting skills at all. One fan, in particular, has sparked controversy by accusing Radcliffe of being not so great in the early parts of the Harry Potter saga, where the actor allegedly failed to be expressive and looked forced. Although there are fans out there supporting Radcliffe, others criticized his performance as well. One fan wrote on Reddit:

When I saw the first few movies, I couldn’t shake off that he couldn’t act well. He couldn’t emote and looked like was forcing himself to act. Sure, he looked the part but his acting would pull me out of the movie experience and remind me it’s just someone acting.

They went on to compare Radcliffe’s performances to those of his co-stars, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who they believe were more convincing in their roles.

The fan’s remarks are polarizing the Harry Potter community. Some opine that there was a transition in Radcliffe’s acting abilities wherein others believe it did get better. Some critics list many reasons, claiming his performance was masked by the success of this storm series, and his acting can not be evaluated separately.

What’s worth pointing out is that Radcliffe’s been criticized for other roles too and for his acting. Nonetheless, one cannot dispute that Radcliffe’s performance of the beloved character of Harry Potter’s won the hearts of millions of people across the globe.

Fan reactions divided: Was Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry Potter performance below average or misunderstood brilliance?
