Freddie Prinze Jr. probably knows better than the average Star Wars fan about the universe, since he starred as Kanan Jarrus on Star Wars Rebels for four seasons. Moreover, he was a fan of the show for as long as he could remember. So fans can give him leeway for his 2019 rant against some of the adult fans of George Lucas’ epic space franchise.
Some of the issues/theories raised in the rant about the universe are worth discussing since they make a lot of sense. Prinze Jr. explained why he believed the Force decided the balance of the universe, dictating who wins and loses in battles.

When Freddie Prinze Jr. appeared in a 2019 interview on Jeff Dye’s Friendship Podcast, he went into a rant against the adult Star Wars fans who kept complaining about the projects. He shared that even he received some of the hate after appearing as an animated character in a non-canonical project.
The Scooby-Doo actor shared that the fanbase “b*tch about the dumbest sh*t” without understanding that Star Wars is a “f*cking movie for kids”. He shared that he was not making things up as this info came from the creator George Lucas himself. The NSFW rant also included some interesting discussion about the Force balancing the universe.
He shared that he learned about the lore and the Force from Dave Filoni, who learned it from Lucas. Prinze Jr. shared that most people talking about the Force had no clue about what it actually was. He shared that neither Luke Skywalker nor the Emperor dictated who won or lost in the war. The Force dictated the wins and losses, thus balancing out the universe.
Prinze Jr. had one example from Star Wars to explain this. He shared that the Emperor could have chosen to kill Anakin, his enemy according to the prophecy. However, he instead seduces him towards the Dark Side knowing that if the Force knew he killed Anakin, it would have corrected the course of events eventually. If the Emperor is the smartest dude in the universe, and knows that the Force dictates this, if he kills who he sees as a rival — Anakin — than he knows the Force is just gonna f*cking correct that. Because the Emperor knows this. These are George Lucas’ words, not mine, so f*ck you if you disagree with me. Straight up, this is information not affirmation time.
Prinze Jr. shared that the Force did balance out Anakin’s turning to the Dark Side, by giving Queen Padme the two twins, Luke and Leia. He shared that by using this very simple logic, it was easy to predict who was going to win and lose in subsequent movies.
Freddie Prinze Jr. Also Dismissed The Idea Of A Gray Jedi In Star Wars
In a non-canonical fan-fic world of Star Wars, fans came up with a Gray Jedi theory. It was speculated that the Gray Jedi would take over after the reign of the Jedis ended in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The term refers to a Force user who can use both the light and dark sides of the Force without vowing their allegiance to either path. They are said to operate outside of the Jedi council.
Freddie Prinze Jr. blasted the theory, sharing that Lucas’ world was not a video game where you could level up to a ‘Gray Jedi’. He shared that while he was okay with fans coming up with such fiction, he hated it when they tried to canonize it. The She’s All That actor shared:
You don’t get to level up in the Star Wars world. that’s a f*cking video game. There’s no such thing as a Gray Jedi! Qui-Gon even says, ‘I turn towards the light because it’s there.’ There’s no gray!
