Following up on the unique Soulslike Ashen, A44 Games is back in full force with the god-killing, wielding, acrobatic Souls-lite Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. It’s an action game that borrows soul-like elements. The amalgamation of these two makes a project that can be enjoyed for hours.
With the game’s emphasis on movement, approachability, and surprisingly unique character builds Flintlock has clearly taken many lessons from Ashen to heart. However, A44 Games has dropped the ball by failing to address the game’s various bugs.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn Bugs Are Making Gamers Go Insane
The newly-released day one Xbox Game Pass title Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn has proven to be a perfect addition to the service. Much like Lies of P and Another Crab’s Treasure before it, the game stands as an ambitious, smaller-scale Soulslike which brings a lot of new elements to the table.
However, the game’s release on PC and Game Pass hasn’t proven to be perfect, as gamers are constantly reporting awkward gameplay issues, bugs, and an overall unpolished feel. On Reddit, some players have encountered a map UI issue that raises questions about the game’s quality assurance.

Gamers on Xbox can’t access vital information about their adventures as the bar, which displays the current rep and inventory tabs, gets constantly blocked when players hover over the map icon. It’s mind-boggling how such a bug has slipped through.
What’s worse is that gamers feel that A44 doesn’t really care about these in-game issues. When some players tried to bring the attention of game developers to similar problems on various social media channels, they weren’t given any responses. This basically forced players to experience the game in a buggy state and, in the end, delete it.
If the developers don’t want to the game to a failure, it’s crucial for them to take note of these player concerns, and deliver a patch to immediately fix the game issues.
Flintlock Is Being Review Bombed On Xbox Marketplace
There’s no doubt that Flintlock is a unique experience that we’ve never seen in the genre before. However, that doesn’t stop the criticism. Currently, the day-one Game Pass title is being review bombed to death on the Xbox marketplace.
\Looking at the negative reviews, some players are criticizing the title because it features a Black woman as a protagonist. These reviews use blatantly racist language that we can’t share here.
Some gamers also cite various Flintlock bugs, stuttering issues, exploits, and things of that nature. It’s unfortunate that the game is suffering through something like this, but they’re quite common with new releases.
Video game review bombs have become quite a norm, with gamers who haven’t played the games or tried them briefly disturbing the reviews with a low score. If you’re itching to try the game, don’t be discouraged by such scores, and give it a shot.
Have you encountered any of these bugs in the 44 Games title? If so, let us know in the comments.
