As soon as it was confirmed that the mutants were coming to the main timeline, fans began looking up at the possible casting choices for their favorite X-Men. And one of the most popular X-Men characters is Storm aka Ororo Munroe, who happens to be one of their strongest heroes.

Deadpool 3 will be bringing back a number of mutants from the Fox movies, and it is more than likely that Marvel will reboot the older continuity and introduce younger actors as the quintessential X-Men after that. And we have the perfect pick for Ororo Munroe.

The Acolyte‘s Jodie Turner-Smith can play the perfect live-action Storm

While social media has been teeming with choices that seem plausible in their own right, there are some picks that stand out from the rest. One of the more obscure fan-casting for the role of Storm is The Acolyte star Jodie Turner-Smith, and at first glance, you can clearly see the resemblance between her and the once Queen of Wakanda from old school X-Men comics.

Turner-Smith has already more than proved her acting skills. Making her on-screen debut as a siren in True Blood, she rose through the industry, going on to play prominent roles such as in Queen Anne Boleyn and After Yang. She was also cast as the lead in The Witcher: Blood Origins, but had to leave due to scheduling conflicts.

Her future projects are going to get you even more excited, as she is set to appear in the Star Wars spinoff The Acolyte and the upcoming Tron sequel; Tron: Ares.

Looking at her experience and profile, she clearly puts forth a good case as MCU’s Storm, if she ever decides to play the occasional leader of the X-Men.

What do we know about the MCU’s X-Men so far?

Members of X-Men have made cameos in several MCU films so far. Two of the most obvious ones are: 1) Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, where Professor X was shown as a member of the Illuminati, and 2) The Marvels, where Beast appeared in the post-credit scene.

Right after the WGA strikes, Deadline reported that MCU’s X-Men was in the process of hiring its writers. However, so far, no writer’s name has been attached to the rumored project, or if anything has been pitched yet.

The timing of the new X-Men’s arrival is unknown as well, as Marvel Studios writer Jeff Loveness once stated that the X-Men won’t be arriving before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Loveness has made no further updates since then, and after his rumored firing and Kang Dynasty’s title change, the future of the mutants looks unclear.

However, after the massive hype caused by Deadpool & Wolverine and the success of X-Men ’97, we can be sure as hell that Marvel is looking forward to investing heavily in the X-Men IP.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be arriving in theatres on 26th July 2024.
