Live service Games are constantly thinking of new ways to retain players while also trying to bring back those who may have left due to other changes. One of these games is Fortnite, which sought to evoke players’ nostalgia by releasing a mode known as OG. It became very popular, and fans loved it so much that they kept requesting its return, to which Epic Games responded with Reload.

After seeing the success of this nostalgia-driven strategy, Activision will follow Epic Games’ example and bring back an old map in Warzone. Call of Duty confirmed that Verdansk will return, and fans are more than happy. In Epic’s game, the mode brought many players back for a limited time. Therefore, it was evident that the studio aimed to replicate this success by tapping into the nostalgia of the fans.

According to a report from Insider Gaming, this map will return in 2025 to the battle royale mode of the popular first-person action game. Following the official release of Black Ops 6, it appears that this famous map will take center stage. It was also confirmed that the new map planned for this year, which was going to be completely new, has been delayed to sometime next year.

Fortnite OG achieved astronomical numbers for the studio, with more than 44 million players at one point, so it makes perfect sense for Activision to want to replicate this success. Nostalgia is a powerful tool and always draws players to these types of games or experiences. That’s why remakes work so well in both the video game industry and movies. Activision is always looking for new ways to bring players back.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will arrive in October, and fans are more than excited to try this new title in the franchise. The game will once again have a conventional story mode, in addition to the classic multiplayer and a zombie mode to complement it. Activision genuinely wants to regain fans’ trust after Modern Warfare 3 was a complete failure and the worst-rated game in the franchise. This title could restore players’ faith.

I'm a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
