Fortnite Fans Want a Deadpool Skin Without the Cel Shading

Recently, a Fortnite fan posted a special request to Epic Games on Reddit. Basically, the developers have brought about a cell-shaded skin of our favorite superhero, with 2D shadows and texture. But this fan wants a 3D skin without the cell shading.

Now, what’s cel-shading? Also known as toon shading, this rendering technique creates a distinctive visual style for 3D models. It uses a non-photorealistic shading algorithm that differs from conventional rendering, which calculates smooth lighting values for each pixel. Instead, cel-shading quantized these values to a small number of discrete shades.

In simpler words, cel shading basically makes a 3D model look flat and like it’s hand-drawn on a 2D surface. In this look, shadows and highlights appear as blocks of color rather than gradients. Anime and manga fans might be familiar with this technique, as almost all the characters there are rendered through this process.

However, another fan on that Reddit post stated that Epic Games has the option to give us the skin with cel shading. The company should technically update the skins to have more options. Fans are now having interesting requests, like previously someone wanted the OG bone claw of Wolverine in the game.

This epic collaboration has been released on July 26, 2024. This date might look a bit interesting, as this date coincides with the release date of the highly anticipated movie. So, what are you getting in this collaboration?

This collab features themed emotes, wraps, typical poses, and the signature Pickaxe. Along with it, themed gliders are there as well, although fans are a bit disappointed as those gliders are just hot air balloons with the heads of our superheroes on them. There is also a themed guitar for each too, with the classic yellow and red colors for each of the characters.

Last but not least, this crossover features the hyped-up Deadpool and Wolverine character suits. Each of the suits, along with Pickaxe, backbling, emote, and wrap, cost a whopping 2,000 V-bucks. And if you are a big Deadpool & Wolverine fan, then you can secure all the stuff for both of them in 3,500 V-Bucks, giving you a 500 V-Bucks discount.

Let’s see if the developers pay heed to the fan’s request and update the skin to 3D. What’s your opinion on the skin? Let us know in the comment box.
