What You’ll Need to Play Forza Motorsport 8

Forza Motorsport 8 is due for release on 10 October and is currently available to pre-order.

At last month’s Gamescom, fans of the Driving franchise were treated to more footage of the game, ahead of its release in October. Although Forza Motorsport 8 will be released for Xbox Series X/S consoles, the level of detail that will be available simply doesn’t compare to PC gaming.

Although the Xbox Series X has closed the gap slightly, it is still recommended that the best way to experience Forza Motorsport 8 to its full potential, is with a high-end PC build. Gamers will need to have an SSD installed, even to play on the game’s minimum requirements.

But you won’t have to break the bank, as the overall minimum specs are still very accessible for budget builds and older PCs. For GPUs, an AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 is the bar that has been set, and for your CPU, you will need at least an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel Core i5-8400.

How does your PC build look ahead of the release of Forza Motorsport 8?

Players should be aware that there is a noticeable gap between the minimum specs and the recommended. But don’t worry, as the minimum specs should still allow you to run the game at 1080p with 60fps.

However, if you’re looking to take your experience that bit further, the Forza team has provided what they describe as the ‘ultra settings spec list’. These recommended settings could see you push 1440p at 30fps. Although these settings were classed as ‘ideal’, there was no indication as to whether this was specifically for 4K gameplay or simply to maximize the framerate at 1440p.

For those looking to run the title at ‘ultra settings’ then you would have to be running a Ryzen 7 5800X or Core i7-11700K, alongside a Radeon RX 7900 XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080.

There’s no way around it, you’ll need an SSD for Forza Motorsport 8

For those who have been avoiding the necessity of an SSD, we’re afraid your time has come. Storage space is a premium for games being released this year and you’ll need at least 130GB of free space if you want to experience this title.
