Zack Snyder’s DCEU, over the course of its lengthy run, has managed to get a lot of things wrong and a lot of things right. From casting Ben Affleck in the role of the Batman, which he did an excellent job at, to Margot Robbie as the beloved Harley Quinn, it is safe to say that this franchise knows how to cast A-list actors and use them correctly. Or does it?
There have been quite a few instances where the DCEU has cast some phenomenal actors but failed to use them to their full potential or cast them in the wrong roles. This has resulted in a lot of push-back from the fans about characters who have ended up being part of multiple projects. On this note, here are five such actors from Zack Snyder’s DCEU, whose presence in the franchises wasn’t the most appreciated by fans.
5. Jesse Eisenberg
Lex Luthor is a character who is known for being a cool and calculating villain. When it was announced that Jesse Eisenberg would be playing this character, fans were extremely excited to see an actor with such esteem and talent playing such an iconic role.
They wanted a Superman villain, and what they got was one from Batman’s story. Rather than being brilliant and ruthless, we got an unhinged, world-ending version of this character, much like a certain green-haired clown. This clear shift from the source material made fans quite upset.
4. Amy Adams
There is absolutely no doubt that Amy Adams is a truly exceptional actress. She has been nominated for an Academy Award over five times in her career, and this, along with her work in a huge number of critically acclaimed projects, has helped her become the respected actress that she is.
This was why fans were extremely excited when it was announced that she would be playing the role of Lois Lane in Man of Steel. Lane is a very dynamic and iconic personality in the DC comics.
She is known for being brave and fearless, and though she is well-acquainted with Superman, with the two interacting daily, she does not need him to function through her everyday life. This is why fans were a little confused and upset when her character Zack Snyder’s DCEU was nothing like the Lois from the comics.
She is constantly used to further the story of Superman, and while she is fearless and a successful journalist, her individuality gets lost in that of Clark Kent’s.
3. Ezra Miller
Ezra Miller has not been in very many projects. While he has certainly had some experience in the spotlight, it may not have been nearly enough to play a character as distinct and iconic as the Flash.
When it comes to his decision of how he wanted to play this role, the actor ended up reflecting the wrong character. The personality that the actor went for was a lot more like Wally West and not Barry Allen.

2. Jared Leto
It is safe to say that following up on playing the Joker after Heath Ledger’s iconic performance was not the best idea for Jared Leto. Despite this, fans were intrigued when it was announced that Leto would be playing the Joker in Suicide Squad. However, their opinions changed very quickly when the film came out.
Rather than playing the role of the Joker and making it uniquely his own, fans felt like the portrayal of this character was more like what someone would think he is like. Unable to capture the essence of this character, it is fair to say that this was one of the most disappointing moments of Zack Snyder’s DCEU for fans.
1. Henry Cavill
There is absolutely no doubt that when it comes to appearances, Henry Cavil is the perfect person to play the role of Superman. On top of this, he is a phenomenal actor. Despite this, fans can not help but agree that this version of the character, seen in Man of Steel, did not feel exactly like the Kal-El we know and love.
One of the biggest parts of him in the comics is that he is a beacon of hope and all that is good. In an attempt to have a darker version of his character in this movie, the film ended up losing one of the key aspects of him.
