Robert Downey Jr. Had Done Some Odd Jobs Before Hollywood!
Although the actor made his debut in Hollywood when he was 5 years old, Downey Jr. had to do some odd jobs before finally settling down in Hollywood. The actor recently received the Maltin Modern Master Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (which is quite an honor) and he relieved some of his memories before joining Hollywood.
In his statements (via People), the actor recalled that he had done 3 odd jobs. From being an employee at a shoe store to being a busboy, the actor had quite a life before joining Hollywood!
“Well, I worked at a sandwich shop. I worked at a shoe store, but I had sticky fingers and I got fired after two weeks. This is before those closed-circuit cameras where they monitor who might be sitting. … I was not very good at it.”
He further continued,
“And I worked in clubs and I worked at Thrifty’s in Santa Monica. I made it to busboy, but I didn’t really have the panache to be a waiter, I was told, so I had to resort to theater.”
So all in all, the actor worked at a sandwich shop, a shoe store, and later, a busboy (who cleans tables at restaurants). Following that, Robert Downey Jr. stepped foot into Hollywood and shined with movies like Chaplin. Following the cases, the actor made a comeback with Iron Man in 2008 and hasn’t looked back ever since!
Robert Downey Jr. Held Back Tears When Cillian Murphy Complimented Him!
At the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Cillian Murphy went on the stage to compliment his Oppenheimer co-star Robert Downey Jr. The clip was shared on X while Downey Jr. was seen holding back tears.
“He’s not just a great actor, he’s kind of unicorn because he’s a great actor who’s also risen to the level of superstar stardom that few of us can kind of comprehend. And why do I think that is. I think that is because he’s one of the kindest, funniest, most generous actors I have ever worked with.”
Starring in the role of Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer, Downey Jr. was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. With high ratings and rave reviews, the 2023 film is available to rent on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
