While the movie won’t be released for a while, fan theories regarding the franchise have been making rounds for quite some while. One of the most popular ones, which is absolutely too good to not be true is about the Feral Kid in Mel Gibson’s trilogy, which can connect the old and new trilogy for an epic crossover.

The Mad Max franchise is known for its bizarre world of destruction, struggle, and hope. After its successful trilogy back in the 1980s, the Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron starrer Mad Max: Fury Road turned out to be the highest-grossing Mad Max film.

And this year, continuing on with its storyline, a prequel will be released based on Theron’s Imperator Furiosa but will be starring Anya Taylor-Joy in the titular role. As the fans wait for its release, numerous theories have emerged and one of them is too brilliant to be discarded as it can help bridge the old and new film series.

In the old and new movies, Mel Gibson and Tom Hardy both portray Max Rockatansky, with Hardy being the recast in the revived movie. The Gibson-starrer Mad Max 2 featured a young child named Feral Kid, a kid who helped Max throughout the film and was later revealed to be the narrator of the film.

As per the theory, the young Feral Kid is Tom Hardy, who inspired by Gibson’s Max takes on his name to carry on his legacy. And since Mad Max: Furiosa is a prequel, it can perfectly include this story, and maybe have a small cameo of the original Max for an epic crossover between the two movie series.

An upcoming prequel based on the popular Mad Max mythos, Furiosa will focus on the origins of the character Imperator Furiosa and how she ended up in the servitude of the vile Immortan Joe. Even though Max is the lead, Furiosa is equally important, making it crucial for fans to know her origins and backstory.

Directed by George Miller, it will star the Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy as the lead and will take place about 15 years before the events of the 2015 released movie, Mad Max: Fury Road. While Miller did tease the appearance of Max somewhere in the story, the movie will be solely based on Furiosa’s past (via ScreenRant).

Also starring Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the prequel is set to release on May 24, 2024.
