Even after the bad reception of its final season, the world of Game of Thrones is expected to make a comeback with House of the Dragon, set 200 years before the controversial series. As is natural for most big productions to split off into spin-offs, fans are interested to see what the new series has to offer.

Game of Thrones was criticized in the last few seasons for destroying its characters, especially Tyrion and Jaime Lannister. Considering the House of Dragon will be focusing on the ancestors of Daenerys Stormborn, the Targaryen, the stakes are only higher as they played an interesting role in Game of Thrones too.

Game of Thrones v. Lord of the Rings

As stated by George R. R. Martin, The Lord of the Rings was a major influence on his book “A Song of Ice and Fire”, from which Game of Thrones is adapted. While he enjoyed J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic, he felt the story was too simplistic and didn’t explore the outcomes of the king’s action on the commoners.

The universes are having one more rivalry and it is of a comeback. Game of Thrones ended in a massive disappointment and the new movies of The Lord of the Rings haven’t lived up to the quality of the original trilogy.
