Ian McKellen played the role of Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The character became one of the best-played characters in the fantasy adventure movie. Gandalf was described as a powerful and humble character.
When Napster founder Sean Parker tied the knot with Alexandra Lenas Parker, the entrepreneur invited the 84-year-old actor. But the X-Men actor politely said no to the invitation. Even though he was being paid for his presence, McKellen revealed the reasons why he declined the offer.
Sean Parker wanted Ian McKellen to officiate his wedding as Gandalf
During an Interview, Ian McKellen recalled an offer when he was invited to officiate a wedding in California. In the year 2013 Parker and Lenas Parker got married but they reportedly wanted the actor to officiate their wedding dressed as a Gandalf. The Napster founder offered the 84-year-old actor $1.5 million but McKellen turned down the offer. While talking about the offer, the actor said,
“I was offered one-and-a-half million dollars to marry a very famous couple in California, which I would perhaps have considered doing, but I had to go dressed as Gandalf. So I said, ‘I am sorry, Gandalf doesn’t do weddings.”
The King Lear actor politely rejected the offer and the invitation to officiate the wedding just because he didn’t want to be dressed up as Gandalf. He said he would have considered attending the wedding if they had not asked him to dress as his The Lord of the Rings character.

The Facebook co-founder’s wedding was on the list of one of the most lavish weddings of 2013. Parker and Lenas Parker had reportedly spent $10 million on their wedding. From outfits to the decor, everything was beyond perfect at their wedding. The entrepreneur and the songwriter’s love for the movie series was highlighted on the day of their wedding as well. The couple selected a 9-foot Lord Of The Rings-themed cake adorned with flowers.

Parker reportedly hired Ngila Dickson, the costume designer for the series Lord of the Rings, to design clothes for each guest. Elie Saab designed the bride’s outfit for the big day. There were 364 guests invited at the wedding and each guest was given an outfit. Sean Lennon, Emma Watson, Kyle MacLachlan, and Allison Williams were some big names from Hollywood spotted at Parker and the songwriter’s wedding. Many people Tweeted about this grand wedding affair. Parker had proposed to Lenas Parker in 2011 and it’s been 10 years since they have tied the knot.
