For years the Jurassic Park franchise has allured the audience with its inescapable world filled with impressive visuals, characters, narrative, and Dinosaurs! Not only did it win praise for the way it incorporated the pre-historic characters within the storyline but also for the way it built the whole world around them while keeping both the human and fictional elements at the center of the narrative.
And now its successor franchise, the Jurassic World, has been engaging viewers by carrying on the mythos. With the fourth movie of the new franchise in the works, a rumor seems to prove that it might be making the same mistake as Jurassic Park 2 which won’t do the franchise any good seeing the critical response the last film received.
Jurassic World 4 To Reportedly Make The Same Mistake As Jurassic Park 2
The Lost World: Jurassic Park aka the second installment of the revered franchise grossed a total of $229 million (see Box Office Mojo), yet it is considered one of the weakest films in the entire franchise. Having mixed reviews from the critics, the movie might be famous among the audience but there are many plot holes and changes that fans have disliked about it.
However, the one thing that many disliked was the film’s urban setting which is presented in the last quarter of the film. A T-Rex rampaging through the city was seen by many as just another science fiction flick, devoid of the feeling that made the first movie so famous (see Reddit).
Despite the movie’s reception and criticism, it seems Gareth Edwards‘ Jurassic World will be making the same mistake if the recent rumor is true. As per the scooper Daniel Richtman, the movie’s title is allegedly going to be Jurassic City.
And if we were to go by the name and judging by the incidents of the last movie, Jurassic World Dominion where humans and dinosaurs have been co-existing, the fourth part might be well on its way to repeating the same blunder. Well, as Karl Marx once said, History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.
Jurassic World 4: All That We Know
Despite mixed critical reviews, the Jurassic World franchise is still going strong thanks to the backing of its classic predecessor franchise, Jurassic Park, and its incredible ensemble cast. Expected to be a reboot, the Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp will be developing the script.
Apart from its rumored title, it is recently been revealed that the fourth film will reportedly start filming on July 31, 2024, as per ProductionList.com. Furthermore, it is expected to be eyeing the release date of July 2025 (via Inside The Magic).
While the plot details have not been revealed, the movie will be a fresh take on the mythos or might even pick up from the events of the last film with just a new cast. As for the casting, we will have to wait a bit more to know the details.
All three Jurassic Park movies can be streamed on Max, while the Jurassic World movies can be rented on Amazon Prime.
