Aside from Yuji Itadori, the character who has suffered the worst fate in Jujutsu Kaisen is Megumi Fushiguro. He has been a victim of some of the worst events that have taken place in the storyline of Jujutsu Kaisen. And now he is trapped in his own body with Sukuna having total control over it.

From fighting his father, Toji Fushiguro, in the Shibuya Incident arc without knowing who he actually was, to killing his sister while Sukuna was in control of his body. Megumi has suffered a lot and because of his suffering, it has become a popular belief that Megumi Fushiguro might become evil by the end of the series.

There is also a high chance that the ultimate villain of Jujutsu Kaisen is Megumi rather than the King of the Curses. This hypothesis is also confirmed by Gege Akutami who might have foreshadowed Megumi’s fate long before Sukuna gained control over his body and used it to cause destruction and murder in the Jujutsu world.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

Gege Akutami Already Foreshadowed Megumi’s Fate

Jujutsu Kaisen’s creator Gege Akutami has a habit of bringing unexpected twists in the story that always shocks the fans. Be it Gojo’s death or Yuta Okkotsu using Sukuna’s attack on him, Akutami has mastered the talent of shocking his fandom. One such shock might have already been anticipated which includes Megumi Fushiguro.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 43 Kyoto Sister School Goodwill Event – Team Battle Part 10, the cover page of the manga features Megumi Fushiguro sitting in a similar pose as Sukuna. However, that’s not the interesting part. The focus of the chapter is on the shadow that is emerging out of Megumi.

According to @BIGDADDYGOJO, this shadow looks exactly like the Merger that appears during the Culling games arc. This connection hints at Megumi eventually starting the merger in the series and officially becoming a bigger antagonist than Sukuna and Kenjaku. This is because the merger will destroy the entire humanity.

Megumi Fushiguro Might Turn Evil in Jujutsu Kaisen

With the King of Curses possessing her, Megumi is now an instrument of manipulation in Sukuna’s scheme, made to perform horrible deeds. Even though he is one of the most beloved and important characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, his destiny may not remain the same throughout the series.

Megumi and Sukuna

This is due to the fact that, in contrast to Yuji, he may not be able to bear the pain he has endured during the series. Megumi will inevitably have to bear the weight of everything, starting with the death of his sister, the person he loved the most, his beloved teacher Gojo Satoru, and continuing to kill countless others while Sukuna controls his body.

Just like Yuji felt the pain of all those murders that Sukuna committed, Megumi will also have to feel it and it will crush whatever is left of his soul. Furthermore, Megumi’s body has been submerged in the curse bath, which has the potential to draw one “closer to evil.” All these facts along with the foreshadowing of Akutami point to the fact that Megumi might become the final antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen.
