With just 5 chapters left for Jujutsu Kaisen to end, Kugisaki Nobara has returned in the series. A comeback this late in the story inevitably makes one wonder about what will happen next. Satoru Gojo was the strongest Jujutsu Kaisen character, if he returns he holds the power to settle the fight on his own. Even though he has been confirmed to be dead, fans still find themselves wondering, what if Gojo returns.

Gojo has a fanbase that worships him, and his return is bound to make some fans happy. However, this twist will wreck the story beyond repair. His last fight pushed his students to try harder as well set Sukuna back. Moreover, his death at that point in the story was unexpected, accounting for a heart-wrenching and unforgettable moment.

Gojo’s Death and its Impact

Gojo Satoru died in Chapter 236 of the manga. Gojo was the epicenter of the story since the Shibuya Arc, everything revolved around him. His character blossomed during the Hidden Inventory Arc, as he became more than just the strongest character. His strength was questioned and his foundation was shaken through Toji and Geto. At the end, he put up a great fight against Sukuna, he was the only one who could pull it off. Everything seemed to be going in his favor until it was not.

Suddenly the tides turned, and Gojo met an expected end. His death sparked numerous questions and its impact was everywhere. It was all anyone ever talked about in the anime-manga community whether it was through memes or through discussions about how fitting a conclusion it was. His fans were especially hurt with how it all came to an end.

But Gege Akutami didn’t completely let go of him just yet. Gojo returned as Yuta, with his body being used in the fight against Sukuna as a weapon. Akutami kept Gojo around in some form and squeezed as many plot points out of him as they could. So, even at this point in the story, his return isn’t completely out of the question, given Gege’s antics.

Here’s Why Gojo Should Not Return in Jujutsu Kaisen

Gojo’s comeback will reverse the impact of the biggest event in the story so far. The anguish fans went through to justify Gojo’s sudden death and the commotion around it will mean nothing. It will also highlight how convenient the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen is, characters are killed off and reintroduced as needed, making the death and the shocking events all about the cheap thrills. Some fans might still be waiting for his return, but this idea is abhorrent to most fans.

Most importantly, after Gojo died, the weight of fighting Sukuna fell on Yuji’s shoulder. Yuji finally resolved to defeat Sukuna in Chapter 266. The focus is finally back on the actual main character of the series, it’ll be awfully unfair to shift it back to Gojo. So as tempting as it is to bring back the cash cow of Jujustu Kaisen, it’d be better if Akutami never dabbles with this idea. It’ll not only ruin Gojo’s character but also strip Yuji of a good conclusion.
