Channing Tatum certainly made a name for himself via his cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. Taking on the fan-favorite mutant Gambit, Tatum strutted his stuff aplenty, which also included his hilarious accent, in The Void, and a recent post-credit scene shared by Reynolds confirms that the character even survived the onslaught Deadpool & Wolverine left for him and his partners to deal with.

The cameo has, almost immediately, resulted in widespread calls for a solo Gambit movie, for which Tatum is desperate, to say the least. And while the MCU may be short on options considering its busy slate over the upcoming period, one genius pitch for X-Men ‘97 Season 2 may be exactly how Tatum’s Gambit arrives to the MCU live-action, albeit eventually.

This fan wants a 10-episode X-Men series to set things up for a live-action movie

Of course, for starters, Gambit was killed off in X-Men ‘97 Season 1. Further, the character that was killed off was voiced by A.J. LoCascio, and did not have the kind of characteristics we saw in Tatum’s Gambit. Hence, rather than this being a pitch for a potential X-Men ‘97 Season 2, it might make more sense for a standalone series.

The fan claimed that Marvel should produce a 10-episode arc that sets up various X-Men characters in specific episodes before the team comes together in a Season Finale which will set things up for a live-action movie. For this to happen, not only will Gambit’s death have to be explained, the character arcs seen in X-Men ‘97 Season 1 will also have to be ignored.

Further, the fact that the Gambit in the first season was not Tatum’s, means that his version of the character will also have to be somehow integrated. Hence, albeit doable, such a series will need a lot of setting up to do, unless Marvel decides to create another standalone X-Men series that deals with the mutants of another universe.

Channing Tatum will do anything in order to star in solo Gambit movie

As much as fans would want to see Channing Tatum as Gambit once more, the easiest and the most straightforward way appears to be simply bringing back the character as seen in Deadpool & Wolverine. After all, Gambit did survive, and not using the extent of talents that Tatum possesses simply seems like a waste.

What’s more, the actor is effectively in love with the mutant, and claimed he would be willing to do ‘lots of terrible things’ in order to make it a reality. (via Forbes)

I would do lots of terrible things to make that happen. [I wanted] it for the last 10 years. It’s in Bob Iger and Kevin Feige’s hands. I pray to God. Write it into existence, friend.

Considering Marvel is also eventually expected to release a Season 2 for X-Men ‘97, working on another mutant series might not even make sense for the time being. Hence, keeping things simple, and opting to bring back Tatum’s character in a much more straightforward manner might be the way to go.

Of course, Marvel should hurry, before a kitten or two end up bearing the brunt of Tatum’s agony.
