Damon stated that Pitt sent out letters in Italian to the film’s Italy-based crew. However, these letters were presented as if they were from Clooney.

“And Brad put this letter out, as if it was from George, or from George’s people, which said, ‘Please understand you’re working with Mr. Clooney. You may not look him in the eye at any time.”

Damon revealed that the letters also asked the crew not to address Clooney by his first name. He continued the anecdote by recounting that the letters resulted in the crew averting eye contact with Clooney. Hence, Clooney was furious as he could not determine what was wrong.

“And we were all staying together at his house, and he came home and that’s the maddest I’ve ever seen him because Brad got him.”

Damon further added that the prank left Clooney fuming, and he begged Pitt not to cross the line again. Damon also explained that Clooney was primarily mad because Pitt’s prank directly clashed with his typically relaxed and humble persona while the star was on the sets of his movies.
