Gerard Butler has given Hollywood some of the most historically fine works of all time like his all-time go-to superhit film from 2006, 300. Not to mention, he has worked equally hard to get that ripped up incredibly muscular body that he had in this film and in The Phantom Of The Opera (2004), especially focusing on his butt in the former.

Jokes apart, while training to get the perfect body for 300 while working with DC’s Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder, Butler ended up with a ‘Jennifer Lopez a**’ as he went overboard with his vigorous workout regime, especially after Joel Schumacher made him wear padding.

Everybody who has seen 300 has gawked over the terrifically ripped-up body that Gerard Butler was able to make after months of intense workouts. Yet little do fans know that while his workouts were inclined toward making him more muscular, they also helped him get a better-shaped butt.

Appearing on Late Night with Conan O’Brien back in 2007, the Plane actor shared how much effort was made into shaping up his a**. He said:

“I don’t have the biggest a** in the world. Seeing as I’m feeling very free-spirited tonight–I was promised I wasn’t going to tell this but–in ‘The Point of No Return’ in The Phantom [Of The Opera], Joel Schumacher was always like, ‘You know we really, I want you to have these peasant strong thighs.’ So he padded my a**. He was adding padding in my a**.”

Continuing, Butler shared how Zack Snyder focused more on training to achieve the desired effect.

“But for this [300], I probably did about 100,000 squats, and I was doing it with weights and chains. And I just noticed that I started getting this Jennifer Lopez a**. It was like, it was amazing.”

He further remarked:

“You know, there’s not much on this film [that] I think is gratuitous because it manages all [the stuff]. I mean, it’s one of those films where it’s just everything and it’s so beautiful but it’s all kind of related to what’s going on except I think my a** shot, which just feels a little gratuitous.”

Even Jennifer Lopez would be stunned to know about this!

Gerard Butler Had To Train With A Mountain Climber To Get A Ripped Body For 300

During the same interview, Gerard Butler then went on to share how he had to train intensely for four months with a mountain climber to get the ripped-up body he had in 300.

“I started training probably four months before the movie even started and I was doing it six hours a day. I got my own trainer on the side and I trained with the film trainer who’s this insane mountain climber–it was his job to kill us. And then with the stunt guys, and then I would pump on set the whole thing because it wasn’t just the body, it would really give this, you know, this [Spartan mentality].”

Irrespective of whatever it might be, not only did the heavy workouts pay off by giving him an incredibly muscular body, but it also shaped his butt as well!
