Game of Thornes had already set a benchmark for fantasy TV shows since its inception. Infamous for its nudity, violence, and gore, the show became a cultural event for the decade of 2010-20. Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa, known for their ruthless roles of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones had several intimate scenes set for them during the first season of the show.

Emilia Clarke later revealed that it was her first acting gig and that she was fortunate to share those scenes with Jason Momoa. Being a caring and protective actor, Jason Momoa cared for Emilia Clarke “as a human being”.

When Jason Momoa Cried More Than Emilia Clarke!

Being sold off to a brute, Emilia Clarke portrayed the character of a timid and scared Daenerys Targaryen during the first season of Game of Thrones. Accompanying her was Jason Momoa’s brutish portrayal of Khal Drogo. Although their time was cut short at the end of the first season, the duo shared many intimate scenes throughout the 10 episodes.

Being fresh off the acting school, Emilia Clarke reportedly did not know about the intimate scenes involved in the job. Although tackling the challenge head-on, Clarke revealed that she was blessed to be sharing the screen with Jason Momoa. While talking about her co-star, Emilia Clarke had nothing but praises for the Aquaman actor.

“He was crying more than I was. It’s only now that I realize how fortunate I was with that because that could have gone many, many, many different ways. He was always like, ‘Can we get her a f–king robe? She’s shivering!’ He was so kind and considerate and cared about me as a human being.”

Suffering from brain aneurysms, Emilia Clarke had a hard time continuing season 2 without the help of Jason Momoa! The actress had stated several times how she would suffer from bouts of memory loss on the sets of the 2nd season. The Me Before You actress also revealed the first day on sets of Game of Thrones and what was her experience.

Following in her father’s footsteps, the character of Daenerys Targaryen was afflicted with the madness disease that burned King’s Landing down to the ground. The Murder Manual character had suffered a lot of personal changes much like her alter ego Daenerys Targaryen during the years of shooting. After the finale, Emilia Clarke recalled the memories of her first visit to the Game of Thrones set.

“I’ve never been on a film set like this before and I’m now on a film set completely naked with all of these people, and I don’t know what I’m meant to do, and I don’t know what’s expected of me, and I don’t know what you want, and I don’t know what I want. Regardless of there being nudity or not, I would have spent that first season thinking I’m not worthy of requiring anything. I’m not worthy of needing anything at all.”

Game of Thrones went on to become one of those series that can culturally impact a generation. The series based on the A Song of Ice and Fire books by author George R.R. Martin spawned off spin-offs and a whole universe much like the MCU. Its prequel, House of the Dragon was recently released on HBO Max which soared much like Game of Thrones.
