The first single from the album has been breaking the internet, specifically because of the significance the title itself could have for his persona, Slim Shady. Recently, the rapper released a teaser clip for the album, and fans are extremely excited.

However, some could not help but notice him following a theme that has been frustratingly prominent in the music industry.

The Death of Slim Shady—Eminem’s Darkest Chapter

Recently, Eminem posted a teaser clip from his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) and the imagery shown in it is quite interesting. The minute-long clip starts with a woman giving birth. As her screams subside and the baby is born, it is evident that something is wrong. The doctor points out that the baby is not breathing and tries to resuscitate it.

After a few seconds, the baby comes to and is given back to its mother. However, something is clearly not right with the child, and as the mother looks at her baby, she notices it too. All of a sudden, the baby opened its eyes, and there was nothing but inky black there. The baby then begins to grow horns and a forked tongue, turning into the devil himself, and the screen flashes the album cover.

Such imagery is certainly something fans have not seen from Eminem in his entire, lengthy career. While many are excited about what he has in store for audiences, some could not help but focus on the imagery and the pattern that has started to rise in the music industry.

Eminem Plays The Devil’s Advocate

There has been a common theme in the music industry that has become more and more prominent; satanic imagery. Many years ago, any form of darkness in music was chalked up to devil worship, to the point where almost every band and artist of relevance was put in the category, regardless of how many times they tried to deny it.

However, in the years since then, artists seem to have leaned into the concept as an aesthetic of sorts, showcasing the darker sides of the world and even themselves through religious symbolism. Doja Cat is the most notable figure to have been tied to these themes, having been accused of selling her soul to the devil. Rather than denying it, she leaned into the concept and even dressed as a demon for a music video.

Other artists have also been victims of these accusations, including Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Beyonce, and most recently, Eminem. While many fans do not mind it in the slightest, there are those who believe it is quite frustrating. They believe it to be spreading the wrong message and simply grow tired of the constant ‘propaganda’.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) will be released on July 12, 2024.
