Ghostwire Tokyo sees players take on paranormal forces in a ghostly, supernatural version of Japan’s capital. Released in March 2022, it mostly flew under the radar in a game-packed year. 18 months after its launch, it has developed something of a cult following and is regarded by many as one of the most underrated games in recent years.

Gamers with an Amazon Prime subscription can now claim it and face the unknown for free.

Tango Gameworks has already proven its survival-horror mettle over the last decade with its The Evil Within series. And the team has done it again with their 2022 first-person open-world action-horror game, Ghostwire Tokyo.

Set in the titular Japanese city, where all humans have vanished from the surface of the earth, you explore the eerie streets teeming with paranormal forces called yokai. With an arsenal of elemental attacks and abilities at your disposal and a vengeful spirit as your ally, you uncover the sinister truth and mysteries behind the population’s disappearance.

Amazon Prime members don’t just get fast, free delivery and an extensive catalog of movies, TV shows, and music to stream; they can also claim free games. Amazon regularly adds new titles and in-game content to its subscription service that members can access free of charge.

Besides Ghostwire Tokyo, a few more free games are part of the Prime Gaming catalog right now, with more coming throughout the month. While many are rather unknown titles, you can also find some big hitters.

For instance, you can currently get Football Manager 2023 (until October 11) and the classic Metal Slug series for free. The dark, narrative adventure game GRUNND also just launched on the service as a suitable Halloween title alongside Ghostwire Tokyo.

More spooky games are set to join the service this month, including:

  • The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters – Deluxe Edition (October 12)
  • Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp (October 12)
  • The Textorcist (October 19)
  • Golden Light (October 19)
  • Super Adventure Hand (October 26)

Fans of Diablo IV, Apex Legends, Valorant, League of Legends, Fall Guys, Overwatch 2, Pokémon GO, and more will also find plenty of goodies within Amazon’s membership. The e-commerce giant regularly drops in-game content such as cosmetics, bonus items, in-game currency, etc. for these and other multiplayer titles.

Amazon Prime currently costs $15 a month or $140 a year in the US. Ghostwire Tokyo would normally cost you $60 by itself, making this a good deal for anyone who wants to try the ghostly title this Halloween.

Note that the game is also available on Xbox Series X/S via Xbox Game Pass and on Windows PC via PC Game Pass. This means there are now plenty of ways to claim this excellent title for the spooky season without having to pay the full price.

Are you an Amazon Prime member? Will you be claiming Ghostwire Tokyo for free to face the unknown and fight the ruthless yokai this Halloween? Tell us in the comments and on our social feeds; we would love to hear what you think of the game and Amazon’s deal!
