‘Give Thaddeus his mustache back’: Fans Displeased With Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross Look in Captain America 4

The MCU just got more legendary with veteran actor and Hollywood superstar Harrison Ford’s presence. The Indiana Jones actor is stepping into the Marvel Universe for the first time for 2024’s Captain America: New World Order starring Anthony Mackie. Ford will play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, an ex-US military officer and the head of the gamma bomb project that turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk. The star will replace the late William Hurt who first played this character in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk which was the second film of the MCU.

Marvel buffs and fans of Harrison Ford have expressed their excitement about seeing one of the biggest stars in Hollywood playing a pivotal role in a superhero franchise. But judging from a few sneak peeks on the sets of the film, netizens are raising a few key concerns about the physicality of Ford’s character.

“Where is Ross’s Mustache”?, Ask Fans

With the announcement that Harrison Ford will play Thaddeus Ross in Captain America 4, the expectations for the film and the MCU are sky-high. One of the recognizable elements of the character is his physical appearance. Right from the comic books to the big screen so far, Ross is seen sporting a trademark thick mustache that has become synonymous with the character. William Hurt too embodied this look fully. But the initial peek into the sets of Captain America 4 has caused fans to become anxious as Harrison Ford was seen sporting a cleanshaven appearance for the role. Many netizens took to social media to express their displeasure about the look and stated that it did not align with the traditional image of the character.

While there is no official confirmation about a change of look for Harrison Ford, it is clear that Marvel fans are keen to see the character of Thunderbolt Ross kept intact without any drastic changes.

The big news from the MCU camp is the inclusion of veteran Hollywood actor Harrison Ford who was inducted into the franchise to play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America 4: New World Order. The celebrity is possibly the perfect choice not just for his film pedigree, but also for his expertise and experience over the years in playing lead roles in iconic franchises.

Ford has been the central figure in the cult film series Indiana Jones which is now a successful 4 film franchise with Ford set to reappear in the 5th installment in 2023. Apart from this, the actor has also featured Hans Solo in George Lucas’s epic sci-fi saga Star Wars which went on to become one of the most influential film series of all time. In recent years, Ford played the titular character in the Jack Ryan films which were based on the novels written by Tom Clancy.
