Despite being a hunk of a man, Powell had quite some troubles during his initial days in Hollywood. With the actor noting that many famous and notable roles were almost in his hands, Powell could have gone on to fight Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Glen Powell Could Have Fought Thanos In Avengers: Infinity War!

In another world, the role of Captain America could have gone to Glen Powell instead of Chris Evans. No hate for the Knives Out actor as he is indeed one of the finest in Hollywood, but it would have been fun to see Powell stopping Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Since it was the early days of Hollywood for Powell, the actor didn’t have much fame to his name. In his interview with GQ, the actor revealed that he has had his fair share of screwed-up auditions and failures.

While talking about the early days of Hollywood, Powell admitted that he was in the competition for the role of Captain America in the MCU back in 2011. Before Chris Evans was finalized for the role, the Top Gun: Maverick actor revealed that he had already screwed up his audition for Captain America! Powell further revealed that he even came so close to portraying the role of Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story!

I can joke about it now, [but] I blew that final audition.

However, this wasn’t one of the worst situations that Glen Powell faced during his early days. As the interview further continued, Powell revealed that he auditioned for the role of Harrison Ford’s son in Cowboys & Aliens.

Deciding that he would be inspired by the acting of Ben Foster, Powell was in for a surprise when he saw his inspiration right in front of him… waiting for the same audition.

When Cowboys & Aliens was in development, a callout for the role of Percy Dolarhyde was announced. As the interview continued, Powell revealed that he was set to audition for the role in Cowboys & Aliens and his inspiration was Ben Foster’s character from 3:10 to Yuma.

I auditioned for Cowboys & Aliens, to play Harrison Ford’s son, I was like, I’ve gotta be Ben Foster. Then I get to the audition the next day and I look at the sign-in sheet. The guy before me is Ben Foster.

As fate would have it, none of the actors were selected and the role eventually went to Paul Dano (from The Batman fame). However, if things had worked in the favor of Powell, we could have seen him fighting Thanos in the MCU very well.

After starring as Lt. Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin in Top Gun: Maverick, Powell’s fame skyrocketed as he went on to star in films like Anyone But You and Hit Man. Well, better late than never.

On the professional side of things, Powell is all set with his upcoming film titled Twisters which is set for a release date of 19 July 2024 in theaters across the U.S.
