The actor starred along with Sydney Sweeney in the romantic comedy Anyone But You, which was a huge commercial success. This year he starred in Richard Linklater’s raunchy action comedy Hit Man, which received positive acclaim.
The actor has now delivered yet another blockbuster with the disaster film Twisters. The sequel to the 1996 Bill Paxton starrer, Twisters was reportedly written by Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski and directed by Minari’s Lee Isaac Chung. The film also stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos.

The disaster film reportedly earned $80.5 million domestically on opening weekend, making it a huge commercial success (via Variety). The film reportedly almost beat Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which earned $82.5 million domestically on its opening weekend. Fans hope that this will revive the cinema after a series of big-budget flops.
Twisters has reportedly also fared well at the international box office, earning a whopping $42 million overseas. While the upcoming release Deadpool & Wolverine will definitely take over, the Glen Powell starrer has still had a grand opening and positive reception that might encourage audiences to turn up next week.
Glen Powell Reportedly Worked With The Late Bill Paxton Who Starred In The Original Twisters

The latest disaster film Twisters is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister that starred late actor Bill Paxton. The Titanic star was known for his impact on several members of the storm-chasing community due to his involvement in the film and he even received a tribute from the community upon his death in 2017 (via CNN).
Glen Powell, who takes over storm-chasing duties from Paxton in the 2024 sequel, mentioned that he had actually worked with the True Lies star back in 2013. The actor mentioned in The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that they starred together in a Western called Red Wing and he even gave him some acting advice. He said,
I shot this movie called ‘Red Wing’ years and years ago, and Bill and I became really close on that movie.
Powell also shared a tweet on the day of Twisters’ release, paying tribute to the legendary actor.
