This gave some important moments between Kratos and Atreus after defeating Garm in Helheim which was hailed as one of the best sections in the God of War Ragnarok. It may not be as shocking as Thor resurrecting Kratos and players saw the usual death screen filled with useful tips and advice.

Players were shocked to see that iconic misdirect that pushed them to the edge of their seats. This prompted fans to share their picks for the best misdirect in video games and chief among them is the famous scene from Batman Arkham Asylum where players were confused as to why the game freaked out and made them think they were experiencing a hardware malfunction.

Misdirects can be a hit or miss and it relies heavily on timing and placement. The developers knew the opening boss fight had to be epic, and the showdown did not disappoint similar to how the fakeout screen in Arkham Asylum made players sweat.

The opening fight was brief and raw, Kratos did his best to hold back until Thor threatened his son. The Thunder God and the players saw shades of the old God of War and were reminded of his capability for great violence.

The developers knew the level of anticipation and had to think of something for players to remember. It was a rare moment that temporarily broke the immersion and the result was worth it.
