Still, Koy was nowhere near forgetting the poorly written and delivered jokes at the award ceremony. For the comedian, the 81st Golden Globes was no fun as his struggle was clearly visible in his eyes, confusing as ever— why these elites aren’t laughing? Koy is back to his gig, now to mock Hollywood stars.

It was no surprise but just a matter of time to wait for Jo Koy to insult Hollywood stars after his poor and tasteless jokes at the 81st Golden Globes award ceremony. After addressing his jokes that were far from arousing the audience to propel them for good laughter, the comedian has now extended the debate even further— this time taking a jibe at Hollywood stars. “Lot a marshmallows, man,” Koy opened his joke on Hollywood after a huge welcome at the venue (via Variety).

“They’re delicious, but goddamn, they’re soft. I just come from a different time. I see the changes that are happening. I get it, but goddamn, can we fucking laugh at ourselves? I got a feeling none of you motherfuckers watched it, and I’m kinda happy. Oh my god. It feels good to live in this country. We get to say what we want to say. Don’t be apologetic about it at all. Be able to…speak your mind.”

Surprisingly though, Koy’s reference to his Golden Globes jokes was vague enough for someone who was not very keen on watching the televised ceremony. Still, Koy managed to stay relevant in the headlines with his subtle reference while reviving from a huge blow after a throbbing whiplash at his own expense.

Jo Koy’s Golden Globes Monologue Was The Embodiment of Bad Jokes

Koy’s vigorous defense of his tasteless jokes was no remedy, there were no healing portions to find immediately after his huge muck-up at the ceremony. It was not one but a series of botches, some even prompted certain celebrities to roll their eyes for his agonizing tasteless humor contrasting to what was supposed to make the night tantalizing. Koy was, however, candid enough to admit his fall as he addressed the blow he had at the event. Still, these jokes, for fans and critics, were horrible at best.

“As you know, we came on after a football doubleheader. The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” Koy made one of his tasteless jokes at the Globes (via Variety).

Koy’s joke on the 2023 blockbuster Barbie, said the foundation of the movie was based “on a plastic doll with big b*obies.” Cringe enough?

“The key moment in Barbie is when she goes from perfect beauty to bad breath, cellulite, and flat feet — or what casting directors call ‘character actor,'” Koy added fuel to the joke’s terrible punchline.

The camera pans after the jokes about the respective celebrities involved including Taylor Swift and then the Barbie cast were far from being teased by laughter. Of course, the comedian also attempted to fill his monologue time attempting to mock another 2023 blockbuster, Oppenheimer. “Oppenheimer is based on a 721-page Pulitzer Prize-winning book about the Manhattan Project,” Koy said of the movie.

Koy said that he just had ten days to prepare for the gig and he didn’t write all the jokes for the event. Still, it will be a chapter Koy will never forget.
