MonsterVerse is well on its way to serving its audiences with one of the most outlandish films in mainstream cinema with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. It is a direct sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong, focusing on the world adjusting to Titans and their existence.
Numerous theories about the hotly anticipated film have begun circulating the internet, causing fans and easter egg miners to take to the internet to solve these theories. From the Scar King’s connection to Kong and Godzilla to the appearance of the first Titan, everything seems to be on the table and open to theorizing.
Speculation about Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has taken over the Internet
Even before the trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was officially released, fans have been speculating about various leaks and theories for quite some time. From leaked toy lines to rampant speculation, fans have been trying to pull from any source possible to construct a viable skeleton of what the film might look like.
One of the leading theories that have emerged and is backed by a leaked toyline, is the appearance of Shimu, the alleged ‘First Titan’ of the MonsterVerse. This comes to us courtesy of images of merchandise that were posted on X, which were promptly taken down by Legendary Pictures. However, this has not stopped fans from thinking about how this new character factors into the story, giving rise to a key theory focusing on the relationship between the Scar King and Shimu.
The Scar King, according to the theory, would be positioned as a conqueror, wanting to take over the surface world of Hollow Earth. This character is expected to have some sort of control over Shimu, positioning the two characters as directly opposed to Godzilla and Kong. Similar to Kong, the Scar King is expected to have no powers, just a whip-like weapon that looks like the vertebral column of a felled creature.
What role will Shimu play in Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire?
While the leaked toy line has confirmed to us what Shimu might look like in the film, there is still a tremendous amount of mystery surrounding the character. Given that the kaiju is called the ‘First Titan’ in numerous theories, it can be assumed that the Titan would put the likes of Gidorah, Kong and Godzilla to shame.
It has also been speculated, that looked at the First Titan and the imagery that we have seen, the titan might be wholly adept in spitting ice as opposed to Godzilla’s radioactive breath, making him a threat to all kaiju. It has also been rumoured that the creature is powerful enough to singlehandedly cause an ice age, putting previous villains like Gidorah and Mecha Godzilla to complete shame.
While there is much to be officially revealed about the character, a trailer closer to the release date might reveal more about the latest MonsterVerse offering, giving fans more material to speculate from to see and confirm the various theories that are circulating on social media.
