Gojo Satoru is among the top three most popular characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. He is the classic case of an overpowered ‘bad boy’ side character in Shonen, possessing ‘limitless’ powers and a distinct personality and appearance.

Along with bright blue eyes, a fan-favorite physical feature of Gojo is his radiant white hair. It gives the character a definitive and fearsome look, with the white hair color also suggesting the ‘experience’ of the sorcerer. Many theories have been made about the supposed canonical reason for the hair but only a few stand out from the rest.

The Meaning Behind Gojo Satoru’s White Hair According To A Fan Theory

Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki mentions that Gojo Satoru has snow-white hair with a “vibrant blue color.” He is the only character to have such a hair color other than Uraume, Sukuna’s subordinate who was hired to seal Gojo. Mei Mei also has similar hair to that of the special-grade sorcerer but it is described as “blue-tinted silver hair” rather than white.

Gojo’s snow-white hair could be something related to his clan

Gege Akutami hasn’t revealed the reason for Gojo Satoru’s white hair in Jujutsu Kaisen. Even though the most striking aspect of Satoru’s appearance has no canonical significance, it hasn’t stopped fans from deducing its meaning. A fan theory suggests that the snow-white hair has something to do with the amount of cursed energy.

Undoubtedly, Satoru was the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen until his death in Chapter 236. The sorcerer hailed from the legendary Gojo clan, possessed the Six Eyes and the Limitless Technique, and had the ability to manipulate cursed energy to create new abilities like the Hollow: Purple. A Jujutsu Kaisen fan believes that white hair symbolizes extreme power and it was a hereditary trait passed on to the other generations.

A more interesting take on Gojo Satoru’s white hair is that it resembles Gege Akutami’s hair. According to a Twitter user, the editor of Jujutsu Kaisen stated Gojo has the ‘most resembling’ appearance to that of the mangaka. Given that Gege Akutami hasn’t publicly revealed his appearance and has always been hidden behind a mask, it can be assumed he has white hair, which eventually became the inspiration for Satoru’s white hair.

Theories galore over the reason for Gojo’s spiky hair. While there is no definitive proof that supports the statements, the speculations are intriguing and keep fans invested in the series.

The Noticeable Change In Gojo Satoru’s Hair Animation In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

In the first season, MAPPA Studios depicted the Blue-Eyed Sorcerer as having detailed hair with a purple/blue tinge. As the series progressed, Gojo Satoru’s hair became more snow-white as if the animation had become less stylized. Fans deem the apparent change to be a result of the artistic changes in Season 2 that make the animation more free-flowing and smooth.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 encapsulates the Shibuya Incident Arc, one of the best arcs in the entire manga series because of the numerous fight scenes. Season 1 had comparatively lower battle scenes than the ongoing season. As such, the focus may have been more on animating the fight scenes rather than the physical features of characters like Satoru.

As per the events in Season 2, the Six Eyes sorcerer is trapped in the Prison Realm. Kenjaku (Pseudo Geto) and Mahito trapped Gojo in Episode 10 of the second season. Now, the focus is on Ryomen Sukuna increasing his powers substantially while Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro try to stop the carnage before it’s too late.
