Sylvester Stallone was the creator of the iconic character of Rocky Balboa in 1976 when he starred in Rocky. Solidifying his career in Hollywood, the actor went on to star in the 1982 film titled First Blood which would be renamed Rambo all over the world.
With modern-day remakes and reboots in the mix, Sylvester Stallone talked about a prequel film to Rocky and Rambo. Wondering whether it’s a bad idea or not, Stallone is confused if he should go ahead with the filming or not.
Sylvester Stallone Wants To Drop Rambo In Vietnam
With talks of a prequel to First Blood, Sylvester Stallone seems to be discussing ideas for the prequel film. Talking about his iconic character John Rambo, Stallone sat down for a chat with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about his movie ideas.
In the interview, Stallone seemed confused regarding his own projects as he didn’t seem confident in the prequel plans. Talking about the Rambo franchise, the actor had some great ideas but they’d have to recast Sylvester Stallone for that role (naturally). The Creed actor stated that he wants to do the Rambo prequel like a Ken Burns documentary and just drop him off in Vietnam.
“I wanted to do it like a Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam, where you drop young Rambo in there and he’s this outgoing guy, football captain, and then you see why he becomes Rambo. But what they want to do is a modern-day story where I pass the torch. That’s getting close.”
On the other hand, Stallone thinks that plans for a Rocky movie seem to be not a great idea as he has his reservations about the whole passing-the-torch thing.
Sylvester Stallone Doesn’t Think A Rocky Prequel Is A Good Idea
Continuing his talks, the actor also talked about the character of Rocky Balboa that he created. Stating plans for a prequel, Stallone thinks that the movie will indeed take place now that Amazon Studios was involved but he isn’t sure if it’s a good idea or not.
“There’s a side of me that goes: Is this really going to work? Every time you try to do Son of Kong, Son of Tarzan, it doesn’t work. There’s a certain indescribable formula that happens. If I gave you the novel The Godfather, good luck on casting that today. Good luck selling that whole premise today.”
Whatever the case may be, there have been no confirmations or denials regarding the projects as the world waits for Sylvester Stallone to make a risky move and win it all or lose it in an instant.
