Greta Gerwig has always been a successful director with her indie movies like Little Women and Lady Bird. But the fans were quite surprised to know that she is having nightmares after just delivering a $1.43 billion movie.

Barbenheimer was responsible for creating a huge buzz everywhere in the world of pop culture. The constant tussle between the fans over Oppenheimer or Barbie was worth watching. Despite all the challenges faced by the Greta Gerwig movie, it emerged victorious with this year’s highest as well as the highest-grossing movie by a solo female director.

Surprisingly, the fans were baffled to see that Greta Gerwig is having repeated nightmares even after giving such a hit. The news came out from the London Film Festival where the director was asked about her new directorial following Barbie. As reported by TMZ, when the 40-year-old was questioned about her future project, she replied:

“It’s hard and I’m having recurring nightmares.”

The exact context of why it sounds so hard isn’t known yet but the audiences have taken the responsibility themselves to know more about it. It is highly speculated that Greta Gerwig must be speaking about her upcoming directorial venture, The Chronicles of Narnia. The director is given the huge task of writing and directing two film adaptations of the C.S. Lewis books by the same name.

Greta Gerwig’s immediate next project will be Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White with her name attached as the writer. The retelling of the classic tale will be spearheaded by Marc Webb with Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler in the lead. Even though Disney’s live-action remakes have been controversial lately, it will be interesting to watch if Gerwig’s involvement makes it any better.

But currently, the project with more importance to the Barbie director is the adaptation of the C.S. Lewis books for Netflix. The Chronicles of Narnia book series has been already adapted repeatedly with the last one being the movie series by Disney. After Netflix acquired the rights to new adaptations, they brought Greta Gerwig on board. Earlier, the Frances Ha writer said to Total Film that she was scared of the upcoming movies.

“I haven’t even really started wrapping my arms around it, but I’m properly scared of it, which feels like a good place to start. I think when I’m scared, it’s always a good sign. Maybe when I stop being scared, it’ll be like, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t do that one.’ No, I’m terrified of it. It’s extraordinary. And it’s exciting.”

Even though it is not sure if it is the same reason why the director is having nightmares, the interviews don’t suggest anything else for now. The details about the upcoming project are extremely scarce for now but it will be worth looking forward to how Greta Gerwig handles it.
