Griselda was released on the 25th of this month. Set in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Netflix series follows the life of Griselda Blanco—a Colombian drug lord.
She starts her illegal empire in the heart of Miami to help her family but gets caught in greed and cruelty. Sofia Vergara, known for her role of Gloria Pritchett, impresses everyone with her transformation as the titular character in a way that surprises viewers.
The series consists of six one-hour episodes, which is currently streaming on Netflix. The crime drama has been well-received by critics, prompting the question of whether there will be a second season.
Will Sofia Vergara’s Crime Saga Continue with Griselda‘s Season 2?
Fans loved Sofia Vergara’s Griselda, which is all about Colombia’s dangerous drug cartels, and now they are eager for Season 2.
Similar to Griselda, the 2015 Netflix series Narcos (based on Pablo Escobar’s remarkable life and death) is also a crime thriller drama that created a gripping two-season storyline.
The question is, will Griselda follow the same path and return for another season? The answer is no. There won’t be a Griselda Season 2 on Netflix. The show was intended as a miniseries, and while some miniseries get a second season, this story has reached its conclusion.
The characters’ arcs concluded, with many of them meeting a deadly end or some form of resolution. Even though it becomes a huge success in the long term, there’s no chance that it will get another season.
Why is the Second Season of Griselda Not Necessary?
The series ends with Griselda learning about the tragic deaths of her three sons, Uber, Dixon, and Ozzy. Despite a strained relationship, she could have had a better life with them. But she chose power over anything else.
So, the way this series has ended strongly tells that the creative team has wrapped up the story. Griselda’s journey from the start to the outcomes of her decisions is fully told in its six episodes. Even if Netflix considered a second season, it seems really unneeded.
As per Netflix Life, Griselda faced legal troubles in real life. She was sentenced to 15 years on drug charges and later 20 years for three counts of second-degree murder.
The drug lord was shot by an assassin in 2012. So, fans won’t be interested in seeing her life after prison. The main part of the story was told, and it concluded well.
Even though the series altered some real-life events, Sofia Vergara‘s dramatic performance makes the intense series worthwhile.
All the six episodes of Griselda and three seasons of Narcos are available to watch exclusively on Netflix.
