This December is going to be a very special month for PlayStation users as Sony has revealed the PS Plus game catalog for the month, which is headlined by GTA 5, providing a great opportunity for players who have not yet experienced the game.
The catalog features 13 other games alongside Grand Theft Auto 5 which will be available for PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra tier subscribers. The catalog has something that appeals to fans of all genres such as racing, soulslike, and more.
Sony Reveals PS Plus Game Catalog for December
Sony brings new games every month for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers and there are usually some best games that hit the subscription service. However, when Sony revealed the first list for this month it faced criticism as there were only sub-par games available. It has now announced the new games with the catalog featuring 14 games, headlined by Rockstar Games’ GTA 5.
The games will be coming for Premium and Extra tier subscribers and will be playable from Tuesday, December 19. GTA 5 is the major game that will be hitting the service only a week after the trailer for GTA 6 was released and the developer has also launched a new update, GTA Online: The Chop Shop, introducing the Salvage Yard business, Drift Races, and much more. PlayStation users who are yet to play GTA 5 will be thrilled to be able to enjoy the game’s open world.
The other 13 games joining Grand Theft Auto 5 include:
- Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
- MotoGP 23, Metal: Hellsinger
- Salt and Sacrifice
- Moonscars
- Mega Man 11
- Gigabash
- Grime
- Tinykin
- Prodeus
- Shadowrun Returns
- Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut
- Shadowrun: Hong Kong – Extended Edition.
These titles will be available for subscribers on both PS4 and PS5.
There are also a few classic titles that will be available exclusively for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers alongside the above-mentioned titles. The games are Mega Man Legacy Collection, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, Thrillville, Thrillville: Off the Rails, and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. It is worth noting that Mega Man Legacy Collection and 2 will be available only on PS4.
The PSP Disney/Pixar titles, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Thrillville: Off the Rails, and Thrillville that are coming for Premium subscribers were already known to be arriving as the Taiwan ratings board page was spotted by gamers. These games have received great response from players who would be delighted to be able to experience the game on PS4 and PS5.
GTA has a cult following which might see players playing GTA 5 all over again even if they have played it already. GTA: Online‘s latest update will also tempt players to play the game. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, the soulslike role-playing title from Team Ninja is another great game that players could play. The game was released back in March 2022 to celebrate the popular franchise’s 35th anniversary and had a good reception.
Other titles that are worth a try include the first-person rhythm action shooter title Metal: Hellsinger, MotoGP racing title MotoGP 23, Salt and Sacrifice which is the follow-up to the Souls-like dark fantasy role-playing title Salt and Sanctuary, first-person boomer shooter Prodeus, 2D Side-scrolling souls-like platformer title Moonscars, and more. With nearly 20 titles coming to the subscription service this December and just in time for the holidays, it is quite a big month for PlayStation users.
Players would be able to play these games starting December 19. However, eleven games would also be leaving the PlayStation Plus Extra tier on the same day including some great titles like Foreclosed, Friday the 13th, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Yakuza: Like a Dragon and more.
Sony is also celebrating the holiday season with PlayStation Plus Season of Play, allowing players to get free avatars for PS5 and PS4 consoles.
