GTA Online has been the bread and butter of the developers ever since it launched a decade ago and received continuous support. The gaming community was enamored by the amount of freedom and activities they could do with friends, and the latest mission featured a callback to another iconic mission of a different franchise.

Hardcore fans of the series will likely appreciate what the developers did with the latest Most Wanted bounty mission. The gaming community will eat up anything that game developers can come up with as long as it honors previous projects in any way.

Rockstar Games has always pioneered the massive open-world structure paired with a strong narrative. Unfortunately, the growing game industry paved the way for multiple genres to bloom and each player base argues that they are superior to others. Some fans of the live-service structure that Epic Games applied on Fortnite believe that the slow-paced nature of Red Dead Redemption 2 is indicative of its quality which is a terrible mindset.

This petty argument did not sway the game developers who doubled down by referencing one iconic mission to the popular online feature of Grand Theft Auto that left fans grinning.

During the Blessed are the Peacemakers mission in the 2018 Western project, Arthur was assigned to watch over Dutch and Micah from afar while conversing with the rival gang, the O’Driscolls.

Morgan was too focused on protecting his allies and could not anticipate an ambush by the rival gang and they captured and tortured the gunslinger. In the online mode for the present GTA, the players enter a room and get attacked from behind.

Perhaps the developers will continue this trend in future content drops. Some fans are hoping that the team will bring back the rare cutscenes that play whenever a player is apprehended by the law. Minor details may not mean a lot to the casual gamer but hardcore fans live for this.

The Developers Has Not Forgotten About Red Dead Redemption 2

The developers did a perfect copy despite running on different versions of the same proprietary engine called Rockstar Advanced Game Engine. Down to the player being captured and dragged to an underground basement, players will feel a great sense of familiarity.

The attention to detail is uncanny and players will realize that it was taken from a previous project. If something is not broken, then there is no need to fix it and Rockstar Games has that mentality.

Others may think that this was a lazy move but it is quite the opposite. The gaming community is no stranger of older concepts being reused and it worked out for many developers.

GTA 6 is right around the corner and reusing older ideas could be a sign that Rockstar Games is ready to let the Online mode rest. Only time will tell how the developers will wrap up this chapter of the developers’ productive regime.
