Although it’s yet to be confirmed, Tom Hardy is widely rumored to take over the mantle of James Bond from Daniel Craig after the latter makes his final appearance in No Time To Die. The Vulcan Reporter website revealed that the official announcement with the name of the star who will play 007 was supposed to arrive in November. The reveal will be coinciding with the release of No Time To Die, Daniel Craig’s final James Bond. We should have our fingers crossed because the news could possibly face a delay due to the ongoing health crisis which has pushed the release date of No Time To Die ahead multiple times.

The 43-year-old star who is much known for his roles in films like Venom and Mad Max: Fury Road, previously addressed the Bond rumors with The Daily Beast, saying: “If I mention it, it’s gone. You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one.”

According to the report, the odds of him taking over the role of 007 jumped after a successful audition in June where he beat out competition from the likes of Cillian Murphy and Idris Elba who had long been in talks for the role. As beloved as Hardy is, many fans of Idris Elba couldn’t help but feel a little disheartened that they might not be seeing him behind the wheel of a classic Aston Martin anytime soon. His fans even took to Twitter to express their reactions and said,

“I do proper love Tom Hardy but tbh think Tom Hardy Bond will *probably* just be pretty much the same ‘damaged brooding bruiser’ type vibe as Daniel Craig Bond. Not going with Idris Elba does feel like SUCH a wasted opportunity.”

Another user tweeted:

“Tom Hardy would be a great James Bond no doubt about it however I was hoping for Idris Elba. Luther was such an incredible show and I’d wished to see what Idris would bring to the role.”

Tom Hardy has been a people’s pick to take over from Daniel Craig for some time now. Pierce Brosnan, who played Bond in the 1994 and 2005 era, said that he believed Tom Hardy could play the role of the elite British spy agent well.

“Daniel Craig has been an incredible Bond. He’s very physical, he looks lethal. You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man,” he said. “He’s complained about doing the part because he’s put himself through a lot physically, but he will do the next movie, and then I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it, that’s what makes Bond.”

Apart from this, Daniel Craig will return to play his iconic character for the last time in the film No Time To Die. The film synopsis tells us that Bond is known to have left MI6 and is no longer an active agent. He wants to enjoy a quiet life in Jamaica with his girlfriend, Madeleine Swann. Unfortunately, Bond’s peaceful life doesn’t last long after his old friend, Felix Leiter, from the CIA asks for help. He is involved in a mission to save a captured scientist. The mission turns out far more dangerous than expected, even taking Bond to a mysterious criminal who is equipped with  dangerous new tech weapon.

No Time To Die is slated be the longest running “Bond” series in history. It is said that the film will be played for 163 minutes, i.e 2 hours 43 minutes. The duration makes the new “Bond” series outperform its predecessors, including Spectre which holds the previous record with a run time of 160 minutes.

No Time To Die is slated for a November 20 release in the United States and a November 12 release in UK. This film was originally meant to hit theaters in April 2020 but cheers to the man who ate a bat, the Coronavirus that hit the world.
