Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse may be delayed!
The sequel to Across the Spider-Verse was slated for an initial release on March 29, 2024, but now that seems far-fetched as hinted by Hailee Steinfeld. In a recent interview, Steinfeld has disclosed that she hasn’t even started recording her dialogues for Beyond The Spider-Verse where she’ll be portraying Gwen Stacy alongside Shameik Moore playing Spider-Man.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the highly anticipated conclusion to Sony’s animated Spider-Verse trilogy, brings together an incredible ensemble. The talented Shameik Moore takes on the role of Spider-Man, while Hailee Steinfeld portrays the formidable Spider-Woman. They unite with an extraordinary team of Spider-friends, setting the stage for an epic adventure. The first chapter of this remarkable saga, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, left an indelible mark on audiences worldwide. Its unique storyline, delving into the concept of multiple dimensions, captured hearts, and shattered expectations. Moreover, it left a lasting impact on the animation filmmaking industry, becoming a catalyst for innovation.
Hailee Steinfeld Hints At A Possible Release Delay For Beyond The Spider-Verse
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hailee Steinfeld was asked a lot of questions about the third part of Sony’s animated Spider-Verse trilogy. During the interview, Steinfeld was asked if she had been recording for Beyond The Spider-Verse yet, to which she straightforwardly denied it.
“Uh, nope! (Laughs.) As you can imagine, this has been an ongoing thing since the moment the first one came out. There’s been so much focus, and everyone’s blood, sweat, and tears has been put into making this the most incredible and best version of itself that it can be.”
It is worth noting that Steinfeld recorded her part in Across The Spider-Verse for 4 years before its release.
So it may be safe to say that the initial release date of March 29, 2024, won’t be able to stand out and it may get pushed back. Even the directors confirmed that it’s unlikely that the film will be out on the promised date due to last-minute live-action shoots and major rewrites amidst the WGA strike.
What will Beyond The Spider-Verse Be About?
The upcoming installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, is shrouded in mystery, leaving fans eagerly anticipating its plot details. However, the conclusion of Across the Spider-Verse leaves intriguing hints for the sequel.
One significant revelation is the survival and increased power of the primary antagonist, the Spot. Consumed by revenge, he now targets Miles Morales’ father, setting the stage for a climactic showdown where our hero must find a way to defeat this formidable foe and protect his family.
Miles faces not only the Spot but also encounters a team of diverse Spider-People from various dimensions who join forces to safeguard the multiverse. This team comprises both familiar faces from the first film and new heroes, each with their own unique abilities and backgrounds.
Interestingly, these Spider-People initially reject Miles from joining their ranks. Their reasoning lies in the fact that Miles became Spider-Man due to a spider bite from a different dimension, making him an anomaly. Despite this, Miles remains determined to save his father by disrupting a crucial “canon event” that maintains the integrity of each dimension.
