Starting with the 2001 film Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the fantasy adventure franchise has continued to grow with spin-offs like Fantastic Beasts and the upcoming reboot TV series. Based on the Wizarding world of Hogwarts and following The Boy Who Lived the series also features several significant characters. One of them also includes Hermione Granger, portrayed by the British actress Emma Watson in the movie series.

However, in keeping the focus on the story’s leading character, the makers seem to have left Granger’s one of the darkest moments unredeemable. However, the author of the series later came forward to assure fans that things did settle down for the fan-favorite character.

Hermione Granger’s Darkest Moment in Harry Potter

Standing beside Harry Potter throughout the franchise, Hermione Granger, portrayed by Emma Watson, has been one of the most significant characters in the film series. She also joins him in a quest to look for the Horcruxes in order to defeat his archenemy, Voldemort.

In Deathly Hallows: Part 1, she returns to her parents. However, before she joins her friends on the hunt, she casts a Memory spell on her parents, making them forget everything about her, her friends, or the wizarding world to keep them safe from the Death Eaters.

While it is considered to be one of the most emotional moments for the character, fans have been curious to know what happened to Mr. and Mrs. Granger and if she ever reunited with them. While the author of the series did state that she brought her parents back once the war was over, the movies portray nothing in that regard.

Did Hermione Granger Reunite With Her Parents?

In a 2007 web chat, J.K. Rowling revealed that Hermione Granger does return to her parents after the war. She said, while replying to a fan’s query, “Yes, she brought them home straight away.” While it did assure fans that she eventually finds her parents, the movie did not portray anything regarding Hermione’s parents after she left for the war.

However, a deleted scene from the movie represents what really happened to her parents. The scene features a Death Eater bursting into their home, only to learn that Mr. and Mrs. Granger have relocated to Australia.

It is claimed that when Hermione cast a spell on her parents, they were watching a TV program about Australia. With her magic, she made them wish to relocate to Australia with the new identities of Wendell and Monica.

While Rowling said she reunited with her parents, that was related to the final book, which was released in 2007. The same could be the case with the film, but nothing regarding this was revealed in the final film of the franchise, Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

The Harry Potter franchise is available on Max.
